The Nature of Somersets Coast
A book launch of The Nature of Somerset’s Coast by local resident Nigel Phillips.
Nigel worked for the Wildlife Trusts as a nature reserve manager/ecologist for more than thirty years. In 2013 he became the Somerset Wildlife Trusts Coast Ambassador and set up and chaired the Somerset Wildlife Trust’s Marine Awareness Campaign, which has run a programme of coastal and marine events along the coast over several years. This has included running training sessions in intertidal survey techniques and recruiting volunteers to carry out survey work.
Nigel has written two books on the wildlife of Somerset’s coast, “Somerset’s Coast a Living Landscape” and “A Guide To Finding Seashore & Rockpool Life in Somerset.
In 2016 he was awarded the “Marsh Volunteer Award for Marine Conservation in recognition of his outstanding contribution to marine conservation work being carried out by the Royal Society of Wildlife Trusts”.
His latest book is “The Nature Of Somerset’s Coast” published by Pisces Publications it’s a hardback book, 300 pages, and comprehensively illustrated with Nigel’s photographs.”
