Piracy War and Plunder in the Bristol Channel 1400 – 1700

Piracy War and Plunder in the Bristol Channel 1400 – 1700

Pirates of many nationalities operated in the Bristol Channel, looking for the rich pickings of vessels plying in and out of Minehead, Bridgwater and Bristol. In some cases, men from those towns became pirates. New research highlights the white slave trade of the seventeenth century and its impact on Somerset folk.
