There he witnesses an extraordinary act of resistance: citizens passing books from hand to hand to help create their new National Library. Alberto makes a brave and unexpected decision — one that will irrevocably change his life and the lives of those he comes to love.\n\n\n\nMore than 80 years later, in 2025, Kate is struggling to hold her life together. Her small circle of loyal friends is her lifeline. Then, quite unexpectedly, she becomes caught up in a mystery connected to Alberto’s story. As Kate and her friends begin to unravel his secrets, they discover that the past may have consequences for the present that none of them could have imagined.\n\n\n\n\n“I couldn’t put it down. Rachael Wong is a talented storyteller.”\n\n\n\nLucy Corrin\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMeet the author\n\n\n\nJoin Rachael Wong for a special evening exploring both The Book Chain and the journey behind its creation.\n\n\n\nRachael will take us behind the scenes, exploring:\n\n\n\n\nHow she developed and researched the novel’s two timelines\n\n\n\nHer journey from the first idea for the book through to publication\n\n\n\nThe challenges and discoveries involved in researching the historical story\n\n\n\nA virtual visit to some of the real locations featured in the novel\n\n\n\nPlenty of time for questions and discussion\n\n\n\n\nRachael Wong writes fiction for adults and is the author of her debut novel, The Book Chain. She previously wrote seven reading and story books for children centred on football and cricket and has made several appearances on BBC Radio discussing literacy and sport.\n\n\n\nCome and discover the story behind The Book Chain — how an idea becomes a novel, how fact and fiction can be woven together, and what happens when two very different lives become connected across time.\n\n\n\nThere will also be wine, making this a relaxed and sociable evening for anyone who enjoys books, writing, history or simply a good story\n\n\n\nEntrance: £5 for non-members | £4 for charity members\n\n\n\nTickets can be booked through the Thomas Poole Library, or by:\n\n\n\n\nEmailing eventsandpr@thomaspoolelibrary.org.uk ( mailto:eventsandpr@thomaspoolelibrary.org.uk )\n\n\n\nCalling the library on 07734 968940\n\n\n\n\n\nvar gform;gform||(document.addEventListener("gform_main_scripts_loaded",function(){gform.scriptsLoaded=!0}),document.addEventListener("gform/theme/scripts_loaded",function(){gform.themeScriptsLoaded=!0}),window.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded",function(){gform.domLoaded=!0}),gform={domLoaded:!1,scriptsLoaded:!1,themeScriptsLoaded:!1,isFormEditor:()=>"function"==typeof InitializeEditor,callIfLoaded:function(o){return!(!gform.domLoaded||!gform.scriptsLoaded||!gform.themeScriptsLoaded&&!gform.isFormEditor()||(gform.isFormEditor()&&console.warn("The use of gform.initializeOnLoaded() is deprecated in the form editor context and will be removed in Gravity Forms 3.1."),o(),0))},initializeOnLoaded:function(o){gform.callIfLoaded(o)||(document.addEventListener("gform_main_scripts_loaded",()=>{gform.scriptsLoaded=!0,gform.callIfLoaded(o)}),document.addEventListener("gform/theme/scripts_loaded",()=>{gform.themeScriptsLoaded=!0,gform.callIfLoaded(o)}),window.addEventListener("DOMContentLoaded",()=>{gform.domLoaded=!0,gform.callIfLoaded(o)}))},hooks:{action:{},filter:{}},addAction:function(o,r,e,t){gform.addHook("action",o,r,e,t)},addFilter:function(o,r,e,t){gform.addHook("filter",o,r,e,t)},doAction:function(o){gform.doHook("action",o,arguments)},applyFilters:function(o){return gform.doHook("filter",o,arguments)},removeAction:function(o,r){gform.removeHook("action",o,r)},removeFilter:function(o,r,e){gform.removeHook("filter",o,r,e)},addHook:function(o,r,e,t,n){null==gform.hooks[o][r]&&(gform.hooks[o][r]=[]);var d=gform.hooks[o][r];null==n&&(n=r+"_"+d.length),gform.hooks[o][r].push({tag:n,callable:e,priority:t=null==t?10:t})},doHook:function(r,o,e){var t;if(e=Array.prototype.slice.call(e,1),null!=gform.hooks[r][o]&&((o=gform.hooks[r][o]).sort(function(o,r){return o.priority-r.priority}),o.forEach(function(o){"function"!=typeof(t=o.callable)&&(t=window[t]),"action"==r?t.apply(null,e):e[0]=t.apply(null,e)})),"filter"==r)return e[0]},removeHook:function(o,r,t,n){var e;null!=gform.hooks[o][r]&&(e=(e=gform.hooks[o][r]).filter(function(o,r,e){return!!(null!=n&&n!=o.tag||null!=t&&t!=o.priority)}),gform.hooks[o][r]=e)}});\n\n\n \n CommentsThis field is for validation purposes and should be left unchanged. To purchase your tickets, please complete the form.Name(Required)\n \n \n First\n \n \n \n \n Last\n \n \n \n Email(Required)\n \n Phone(Required)Non-Member Tickets - The Book Chain Talk Quantity\n \n \n Price:\n £ 5.00\n \n \n Quantity \n Charity Member Tickets - The Book Chain Talk Quantity\n \n \n Price:\n £ 4.00\n \n \n Quantity \n DonationI would like to make an additional donation to support the great work the Library does.Thank You.\n \n Gift Aid\n \n I want to Gift Aid this donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past 4 years to The Thomas Poole Library Nether Stowey\n Boost your donation by 25p of Gift Aid for every £1 you donate.
