SUMMARY:Daughters of the Sea
DESCRIPTION:\nBook Launch by Geraldine Griffin (Gerry Wright)\n\n\n\nA memoir of Growing up Afloat\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nGerry Wright has, at last, written the story of her remarkable childhood growing up afloat with her sisters. Daughters of the Sea is her memoir of sailing across the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean as a qualified bo’sun and navigator.\n\n\n\nAboard the family’s sturdy 50-foot ketch, navigating with “Captain Cook’s instruments along Christopher Columbus’s route”, there was no satnav and no telephone — only a compass, sextant, paper charts, ample provisions and 100 gallons of water.\n\n\n\nThis captivating memoir is a saga of delights: lazy sailing days, mid-Atlantic swims and joyful celebrations. It is also a story of adversity, storms and survival — a powerful testament to optimism and resilience.\n\n\n\nGerry is delighted to launch her book at the Thomas Poole Library in Nether Stowey. Signed copies will be available on the evening at a discounted price, with all proceeds supporting the RNLI.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe entry price is £3.50 for Thomas Poole Library charity members and £4.50 for non-members. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nFor those unable to attend, there will be a further opportunity to purchase a signed copy at St Mary’s Church Centre during the coffee morning on Saturday, 11 April, from 10:30 am.\n\n\n\n\n
